I haven’t shared a work in progress painting here for a while so thought I’d share my Blue Horse on board.
Materials:
9 x 12 Board
Gesso
Pastel Ground
charcoal pencil for initial sketch
Acrylic Paint for the underpainting
Oil Paint
Surface: I gessoed a 9 x 12 board with white gesso and pastel ground. The ground adds texture. I had originally thought to try to top this with pastel but decided otherwise once this dried.
My palette
Charcoal and gouache for sketching and highlights
Adding acrylic underpainting
Underpainting
Begin using oil paint
